Poole to seek regeneration partner

Borough of Poole council is set to launch a procurement search to find a development partner for a major regeneration scheme. The council is hoping to find a private sector firm to help it deliver a £134m project for more than 400 homes, a new leisure centre, bus station, and hotel. The council this week agreed to spend £1.4m on the procurement process.

The local government financial crisis has not been caused by a lack of funding: that’s just a symptom of the inherent conflict of having independent local authorities within a highly centralised state, argues Conrad Hall.
