Liverpool reopens housing revenue account for new homes

Liverpool is set to begin building new council houses for the first time in 30 years. The city council will start a programme of new-builds after the government confirmed it would wipe out a historic debt created when its council houses were transferred to housing associations.

Housing minister Kit Malthouse said he was “pleased to see the ambition and enthusiasm of a city such as Liverpool, in engaging with the urgent process of delivering the new homes that this country needs.”
