Liverpool City Council has bought the freehold to part of its iconic docks for £1 to spur regeneration.
The council has bought the reversionary freehold interest for the 55,000m2 site at Kings Dock – as well as an ancillary leasehold title – from Homes England.
The council holds the majority of the land across the Kings Dock estate under three 999 year leases.
The council said the deal would help “increasing footfall, visitor spend and delivering investment and jobs”.
