Cornwall Council has agreed £3m of capital funding towards building a new stadium for Cornwall. The stadium will be a multi-use sports, education, business, health and community facility and the permanent home for the Cornish Pirates and Truro City Football Club. The council will now submit a bid for a further £3m from central government, which would be added to £8m already raised from the private sector. Cornwall Council cabinet member for planning and economy Bob Egerton said: “This is money that is set aside to support infrastructure to help grow the wider economy of Cornwall – it is not money that we are in any way diverting from delivering day-to-day services.”
