Brunel appoints global high alpha managers

LGPS pool Brunel Pension Partnership Limited has appointed five firms to mange investments in its global high alpha sub-fund.

AllianceBernstein, Baillie Gifford, Fiera Capital, Harris Associates and Royal London Asset Management has been appointed, and each will be allocated a share of the £2.6bn portfolio.

Matt Betts, senior investment officer at Brunel, said the managers “use a range of different specialist approaches to selecting global companies that they expect to outperform the market in the long term”.

He added: “They achieve this by focusing on an array of fundamental characteristics, employing tried and tested processes alongside innovative thinking that delivers consistent return profiles.”

The adoption of artificial intelligence in local government could be just as much about maximising available resources – essentially doing more with less – as it is about making immediate financial savings or efficiencies.
