Basingstoke forward-funds office development

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is set to pay for construction costs for a new headquarters for one of its biggest firms – Eli Lilly and Company. A new 45,000ft2 building will be built in partnership with Muse Developments using cash from the authority’s £25m Invest to Grow Fund. Once completed the building will be owned by the borough council, bringing in additional rent to help fund council services.  Work is scheduled to start later this year, subject to planning permission.

The adoption of artificial intelligence in local government could be just as much about maximising available resources – essentially doing more with less – as it is about making immediate financial savings or efficiencies.
