£7m community integration fund launched

The government has launched a £7m fund to support councils in building more integrated communities. The money is being made available to help tackle the causes of poor integration which were identified in the government’s Integrated Communities Strategy green paper, published in March.
Councils can bid for money to support projects including the use of sport and physical activity.
Communities secretary James Brokenshire MP said: “Britain is on the whole a well integrated society, but we have been clear that we need to tackle the persistent challenges of integration in some communities across the country.”
The government is already working on local integration plans with councils in Blackburn with Darwen, Bradford, Peterborough, Walsall, and Waltham Forest.

The adoption of artificial intelligence in local government could be just as much about maximising available resources – essentially doing more with less – as it is about making immediate financial savings or efficiencies.
