Room151’s highly respected conference for council treasury managers is to spread its wings with a brand new event in the North of England.

LATIF North 2018 will launch in Manchester providing a sister event for the Local Authority Treasurers Investment Forum (LATIF) that takes place each year in London.

The launch conference will be chaired by Tim Seagrave, group finance lead – capital & treasury management at Manchester City Council, and will take place on 22 March at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel. The event will offer in depth analysis of treasury issues in a one-day, CPD qualified conference programme.

LATIF North follows growing demand for an increased focus on treasury management. Peter Findlay, publisher of Room151, said: “Room151 conference delegates have long expressed an interest in more treasury events throughout the year and given the rapid pace of development in treasury investment and significant growth in our readership from northern towns and cities, we’re committed to taking LATIF on the road.”

The event is open to any local government officers with day-to-day or overall responsibility for management of their council’s treasury investments, with a maximum of two delegates per council.

Lead Sponsor for LATIF North will be CCLA with Payden & Rygel also providing invaluable support as a Gold Sponsor. Commenting on the recent LATIF event in London, Manchester’s Seagrave said: “As a place to network, discover how other local authorities are managing their treasury portfolios, and to explore new ideas with colleagues in both the public and private sector, it is exceptional.”

Invitations to the new conference will be going out over the next few months but early birds wishing to reserve a place can do so here.

Room151’s annual treasury conference in London will continue as normal providing a crucial source of intelligence for local authority treasury managers.

Until recently, the FRC had little involvement in local government affairs. But with investigations into council officers becoming more frequent, where is the political accountability?
