A high-level speaker line-up will discuss key topics in local government finance at Room151’s flagship event – the Local Authority Treasurers Investment Forum (LATIF) and Finance Directors’ Summit 2023 – this September.
Dame Meg Hillier, chair of the Public Accounts Committee, will return as keynote speaker this year. Finance chiefs including Barnet’s Anisa Darr, Slough’s Adele Taylor, Newham’s Conrad Hall, Warrington’s Danny Mather and Manchester’s Tim Seagrave will be joined by the Financial Reporting Council’s director of local audit Neil Harris, among others.
Taking place on 19 September, it will be the biggest edition of the event yet with more than 250 delegates, and a new, larger venue for 2023 – the stylish and contemporary 155 Bishopsgate, located in the City of London and close to Liverpool Street.
Key issues to be discussed at the LATIF and Finance Directors’ Summit 2023 will include an analysis of the economic outlook in the UK and on a global level; inflation; interest rates; borrowing; the impact of the current economic situation on capital programmes; recruitment and retention; regulatory updates; ESG; and much more.
The exhibition will enable delegates to meet key suppliers to the sector, while there will be an array of networking opportunities during coffee breaks, lunch and evening drinks.

The LATIF and Finance Directors’ Summit 2023 attracts a range of delegates, with finance officers including CFOs, heads of finance, treasury managers, and chief/principal accountants from more than 100 UK local authorities joined by investment and finance experts, politicians and suppliers.
Combining two events in one day, LATIF is now in its fifteenth year, while the FDs’ Summit is in its eighth year. Local government finance officers can attend for free, and details on how to register can be found here.
Jason Holland, Room151 editor, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming the local government finance community in September. It will be fascinating to hear insights from a top-class speaker line-up, as they look at ways to address current challenges, and move forward with new opportunities. And I expect the exhibition and networking opportunities to prove equally valuable.
“We can promise delegates a memorable experience this year, and the 2023 edition of the LATIF and Finance Directors’ Summit is set to be the best yet.”
