LGPS Central, the £55bn pool for eight local authority pension schemes in the Midlands, has appointed Sheila Stefani to its responsible investment team.
Stefani joins the pool from TPT Retirement Solutions, where she worked in areas such as net zero, just transition, diversity, human rights, modern slavery, and corporate governance, advising trustees on responsible investment policies and ESG regulatory updates.
Prior to that, she spent more than four years as a senior analyst for investment stewardship for Church Commissioners for England. She has also held stewardship roles at ICGN Global Stewardship Committee and Minerva Analytics.

In her new role, Stefani will lead on engagement with companies and policy makers on ESG issues and oversee LGPS Central’s proxy voting process. She will also be responsible for setting engagement priorities, developing engagement strategies and working with the pool’s team on ESG integration and manager oversight across asset classes.
Stefani will be joined by Sameed Afzal, who joined LGPS Central recently as a senior stewardship analyst from St James Place.
