The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) has announced the appointment of five LGPS industry experts to its local authority policy committee.

The PLSA’s policy committees meet three times a year and play a crucial role in advising the industry bodies’ board on public policy positions for their respective industries. They usually sit for a three year term though positions can be extended.
The Local Authority Committee, is chaired by by Surrey County Council’s Neil Mason.
He will now be joined by George Graham head of Paid Service at South Yorkshire Pensions Authority, Nick Buckland, head of Pensions and Treasury at Kent Pension, Sian Kunert, head of Pensions at East Sussex Pension Fund, Rachel Wood, pension strategist at West Sussex County Council and Sean Green, head of Lancashire County Council’s Pension Fund.
They will replace John Burns, chief finance officer at the The Scottish Public Pensions Agency and previously chief finance officer at Lothian Pension Fund.

John Chilman, chair of the PLSA Policy Board said: “Our Policy Committees play a vital role in providing deep subject matter expertise on the policy and regulatory initiatives which impact our sector and, by providing a voice for the different segments of the pension landscape, help shape the policy agenda for retirement saving across the UK. Together with the rest of the PLSA team, I welcome the new Committee members and look forward to the fresh ideas and enthusiasm they will no doubt bring.”
