Jim McMahon to speak at Room151’s LGPS Investment Forum

Minister Jim McMahon is confirmed to join a strong line-up of speakers at Room151’s LGPS Investment Forum which takes place at the London Stock Exchange on the 5 November.

McMahon was appointed as minister of state at the renamed Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) on 6 July. He has since been instructed to help chancellor Rachel Reeves review how to “unlock” UK growth through Local Government Pension Scheme investment.

McMahon has served as the MP for Oldham West, Chadderton and Royston since 2015. He was also a councillor from 2003 to 2017, serving as leader of Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council from 2011 to 2016.

At the Forum, which is again chaired by London CIV CIO Aoifinn Devitt,  McMahon will be joined by others, including three CIOs: LPPI’s Richard Tomlinson, Brunel’s David Vickers and Lothian’s Emmanuel Bocquet.

Other speakers include Peter Wallach, director of pensions at Merseyside Pension Fund, Laura Colliss, pension fund manager at NESPF, Leandros Kalisperas, chief investment officer for the West Yorkshire Pension Fund and Neil Mason, assistant director and LGPS senior officer for the Surrey Pension Team.
