Savings needed by Aberdeen ‘double’ in size

Aberdeen council faces having to find savings of £45m in next year’s budget, according to reports.

The Aberdeen Evening Express said that councillor Marie Boulton admitted that the authority’s financial position is worse than originally feared.

She was quoted by the paper as saying: ““As a council we have some challenges coming our way in terms of budgets and we are probably going to have to save more than double the amount we thought we were.

“We are looking at having to save nearly £45m over the next year and that is going to present us with significant challenges.”
