Northants votes through council tax rise

Northamptonshire County Council has voted through a 4.99% rise in council tax.

The authority was given dispensation by government in January for an extra 2% rise on top of the amount that would normally trigger a referendum.

The move will raise an extra £5.8m towards the authority’s budget for 2019/20.
