Northamptonshire County Council remains on track to balance its 2018/19 budget by the end of the year, according to council officers.
The authority’s latest monthly revenue monitoring report shows a forecast overspend of £0.9m for the year, an improvement of £0.5m on last month’s figure.
The report said: “The Section 114 notice approved by council in August 2018 identified a financial gap for 2018-19 of £64.4m.
“This gap subsequently rose to £65.6m.
“Six months later, at Period 10, this gap has reduced to £0.9m, which means the council has successfully identified and implemented savings of £64.7m in a six-month period and anticipates balancing the budget by the end of the financial year.”
