Leeds City Council has submitted six bids totalling more than £120m as part of round two of the government’s Levelling Up Fund.
The council said that, if successful, its proposals would deliver “transformational change” for communities across Leeds and help to deliver on the levelling up agenda. The plan would involve investment in parks, transport infrastructure, high streets and local economies across the city’s six parliamentary constituencies.
In total, the council said that the plan could deliver £186m worth of investment, including the £120.8m from the bid, £56.3m from partners and grants and £8.7m match funding contribution from Leeds City Council.
Helen Hayden, executive member for infrastructure and climate, said: “The six bids that we have submitted to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, offer a unique opportunity for the department to deliver meaningful transformation, driving economic growth forward and tackling health and wellbeing inequalities.”
The bids will now be evaluated by DLUHC, with bid outcomes expected to be announced alongside the Autumn Statement.
