Councils receive £22m to tackle domestic abuse

The government has allocated £22m for projects to tackle domestic abuse, to be delivered by local authorities.

More than 60 projects will benefit from the cash, which will provide more than 2,200 beds in refuges, access to education and guidance for survivors.

Housing Minister Heather Wheeler MP said: “Through providing specialist accommodation and access to employment, this fund will make sure local authorities and charities can provide a strong safety net for anyone facing the threat of abuse in their own home.”
