Councils have saved £1.34bn through shared service arrangements with other councils, according to a survey by the Local Government Association.
The figure comes from a survey of local authorities included in an interactive map on the LGA’s website.
Lord Porter, LGA chairman, said: “Councils have embraced efficiency and innovation in a way that is not seen anywhere else in the public sector and these fantastic new figures show they, once again, remain at the forefront of cost-effective service delivery.”
