Trafford Council has signed a £50m deal to buy three shopping centres.
The council has bought Stretford Mall, Stamford Quarter Shopping Centre in Altrincham and Clarendon House also in Altrincham in a joint-venture property deal with Bruntwood Works.
The council said the deal would help drive a comprehensive redevelopment in Altrincham and protect high street stores.
