Statistics show a drop in Right to Buy sale receipts

Council receipts from Right to Buy sales last year fell below £1bn for the first time since 2015/16, according to provisional figures.

The government statistics showed total sales through the scheme totalled £874.2m, down from £1.01bn last year, and £1.13bn the previous year.

The total number of sales fell from 12,876 to 10,213, according to the data from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

The number of homes that started on site using RTB receipts fell from 5,134 in 2017/18 to 4,671 last year, the figures also showed.
