Donna Hall has been named as the new chair of the New Local Government Network (NLGN).
She will take up her position at the think tank in early 2019 upon her retirement as chief executive of Wigan Council.
Hall has been a member of the NLGN board since March 2018.
She said: “I hope that by working creatively together we can support councils to in turn give strength and confidence to their communities.”
She replaces Dame Jane Roberts, who is stepping down after being NLGN’s chair since 2013.
In addition, NLGN has appointed Ada Burns, former chief executive of Darlington Council, as vice chair, and Robert Pollock, a director at Social Finance, as treasurer.
