MPs to investigate social housing funding

Senior MPs are to investigate if the government is spending enough money on social and affordable rented housing.

The housing, communities and local government committee headed by Clive Betts MP has called for submissions on whether funding is enough to meet housing output targets set by ministers.

The committee said: “The new inquiry will investigate the effectiveness of the government’s current strategies to boost social and affordable rented housing provision. This will include the adequacy of funding levels.”
