Public Sector Audit Appointments (PSAA) has reported that, as of 23 February, it had received acceptances from more than 300 eligible bodies to become opted-in authorities to the national scheme from April 2023.
PSAA, the organisation responsible for overseeing the appointment of local government auditors, is currently undertaking a procurement exercise for the next five-year appointing period which begins on 1 April 2023.
Regulations require PSAA to publish a list of opted-in bodies, which it has undertaken to do weekly. The latest list of 301 bodies that have opted in to the scheme can be found here.
For PSAA’s first contracting period, which began in April 2018, 98% of eligible local public bodies agreed to participate.
The deadline for eligible bodies to send in their acceptance form to opt in is midnight on 11 March 2022.
