Mike O’Donnell joins Local Pensions Partnership Administration

Mike O’Donnell, non executive director, LPPA.

Mike O’Donnell has joined the Local Pensions Partnership Administration (LPPA) as a non-executive director.

LPPA is the administration arm of Local Pensions Partnership; it supports more than 2,100 employers and has over 660,000 members of local government, police and firefighters’ pension schemes. LPPA’s partner company Local Pensions Partnership Investments is one of the eight Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) pools in the UK and manages £24.5bn of fund assets.

O’Donnell is the former chief executive officer of the LGPS pension pool London CIV, where he worked for almost four years. He was succeeded by Dean Bowden, who was appointed as the new CEO in December 2022.

In his time at London CIV, O’Donnell was an advocate for accelerating the progress and pace of LGPS asset pooling.

Last year in an interview with Room151, O’Donnell said: “The speed of transition to pooling needs to increase. Good progress has been made, but it needs to go further and faster.”

Prior to his time at London CIV, O’Donnell worked in various roles throughout the local government sector, which included being a director of finance and an interim executive director for financial sustainability.
