Liverpool in £150,000 crowdfunding drive

Liverpool City Council has joined the crowdfunding revolution to support community projects.

The council has created a £150,000 civic crowdfund to help enable projects that make local civic places more distinctive.

The money will contribute towards a new Mayoral Inclusive Growth Fund which has a £1m budget.

A report to councillors said: “Crowdfunding helps build more cohesive, resilient and sustainable communities with tools to actively shape their local area. It encourages people become active citizens and have a stake in their area.”

Until recently, the FRC had little involvement in local government affairs. But with investigations into council officers becoming more frequent, where is the political accountability?
