LGPS pool Local Pensions Partnership has launched a new fund seeking to generate returns from alternative strategies not primarily dependent on market factors.
The £750m LPPI Diversifying Strategies Fund will look to “exploit a broad range of relative value and macro directional opportunities in global capital markets”, according to a statement from the pool.
The fund will take a multi-strategy, multi-manager approach across a range of asset classes in the hope of generating returns with low correlations to traditional asset classes in order to provide stability in times of market stress.
Since it began operations in April 2016, LPP has launched a £599m fixed income fund, a £1.3 billion credit fund, a £1.5bn global infrastructure fund, a £1.8bn private equity structure and a £5bn global equity fund.
