Lee Rowley to speak at Room151’s LATIF/FDs’ Summit

Local government minister Lee Rowley will join a stellar line-up of speakers at the Local Authority Treasurers Investment Forum (LATIF) and Finance Directors’ Summit 2023, which takes place in London on 19 September.

Rowley was appointed as parliamentary under secretary of state for local government and building safety at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on 7 September 2022. He recently set out a range of proposals and actions to address the backlog of local audits in England, and has been involved in establishing the Office for Local Government (Oflog).

Rowley served as parliamentary under secretary of state in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and as government whip, lord commissioner of HM Treasury between 17 September 2021 and 6 July 2022. He was elected the Conservative MP for North East Derbyshire on 8 June 2017.

At the LATIF/FDs’ Summit – Room151’s flagship event – Rowley will join a high-level speaker line-up discussing key topics in local government finance.

Taking place on 19 September, it will be the biggest edition of the event yet with more than 250 delegates, and a new, larger venue for 2023 – the stylish and contemporary 155 Bishopsgate, located in the City of London and close to Liverpool Street.

Key issues to be discussed at the LATIF and Finance Directors’ Summit 2023 will include an analysis of the economic outlook in the UK and on a global level; inflation; interest rates; borrowing; the impact of the current economic situation on capital programmes; recruitment and retention; regulatory updates; ESG; and much more.

The exhibition will enable delegates to meet key suppliers to the sector, while there will be an array of networking opportunities during coffee breaks, lunch and evening drinks.
