Homes England shares £55m for housing developments

The government’s new homes regulator has announced funding deals worth £55m with 12 councils.

Homes England has agreed funding that will start the development of 4,000 homes. The cash will fund works such as drainage and roadbuilding.

As part of the Local Authority Accelerated Construction (LAAC) programme, the councils are being encouraged to use an off-site manufacture to speed-up build times.

The councils are: York, Gateshead, Newcastle, Pendle, Eastleigh, Medway, Dorset, Leicestershire, South Norfolk, High Peak, Lincoln and King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.

Stephen Kinsella, executive director for land at Homes England, said: “This funding will enable local authorities to accelerate housing delivery by enabling them to prepare sites for development and bring forward the construction of new homes incorporating modern methods of construction.”
