Lucy Frazer has been appointed as a minister of state at the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC), while Lee Rowley and Dehenna Davison have been reappointed to their roles.
This comes as prime minister Rishi Sunak continues to announce individuals joining his administration. Earlier this week, he appointed Michael Gove as secretary of state for levelling up, housing and communities.
Frazer, the MP for South East Cambridgeshire, was minister of state at the Department for Transport during the short-lived Liz Truss administration. She has also previously served as financial secretary to the Treasury and minister of state at the Ministry of Justice.
In response to her appointment, Frazer said on Twitter: “Delighted to have been asked by Rishi Sunak to join the DLUHC team. I am very much looking forward to working with Michael Gove, the ministerial team and civil servants.”
Rowley, the MP for North East Derbyshire, has been reappointed as minister for housing, a role he has held since September 2022. Before that he was parliamentary under secretary of state in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and a government whip.
Davison has been reappointed as minister for levelling up. She joined the department in September 2022 and is the MP for Bishop Auckland.
In addition, Paul Scully has left DLUHC as minister of state for local government and building safety to join the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as parliamentary under secretary of state.
He said on Twitter: “I’m excited to get stuck into my new role as Minister for Tech at DCMS and delighted to continue work with so many friends as minister for London. Wishing my successor well in the DLUHC with the forthcoming local government financial settlement and work on building safety.
Andrew Stephenson, minister for housing and communities, has also left his role at the department and has been appointed a government whip.
