Felicity Buchan has been appointed parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), while Baroness Scott of Bybrook remains as minister for communities.
Buchan, the MP for Kensington, was formerly exchequer secretary to the Treasury during Liz Truss’s premiership. Before her political career, she worked in investment banking for JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America.
Baroness Scott has been reappointed as minister for communities, a role she has held since September 2022. She is a member of the House of Lords and was previously a government whip from 2020 to 2022.
Scott also has an extensive history in local government as she was leader of Wiltshire County Council between 2003 and 2009. She was also leader of its successor body, Wiltshire County Unitary Authority, from June 2009 until July 2019.
Last week, DLUHC announced the appointment of Lucy Frazer as minister of state and reappointed Lee Rowley and Dehenna Davison to their roles as minister for housing and minister for levelling up respectively.
