Councils urged to trial community bonds

Councils who want to invest in local green projects have been urged to join a pilot project to develop crowdsourcing bonds.

Peer-to-peer ethical finance platform, Abundance Investment, is inviting local authorities to apply for grants from a £125,000 fund to pilot new Community Municipal Bonds for raising finance for green and low-carbon infrastructure projects.

The project is backed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. It has already been trialled by Isle of Wight Council and three NHS organisations.
