Council tax and business rates income both rise

Council receipts from business rates rose to £25.3bn in 2018/19 from the previous year’s figure of £24.5bn.

The figures were released by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government this week.

Receipts from council tax also rose – from £28bn in 2017/18 to £29.8bn last financial year.
