Secretary of State Simon Clarke has appointed four new ministers to the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) team.
The two most recent appointments include MP for Pendle, Andrew Stephenson, and Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE as parliamentary under secretary of state.
Stephenson was formerly minister without portfolio at the Cabinet Office from July 2022 to September 2022, in addition to minister of state at the Department for Transport between February 2020 and July 2022.
Writing on Twitter, Clarke described Stephenson as “one of the most reliable, effective people in Parliament with a great track record of delivery”.
Baroness Scott is a member of the House of Lords and has previous experience within local government as leader of Wiltshire County Council between 2003 and 2009. She was a government whip from 2020 to 2022.
Clarke has also appointed North East Derbyshire MP, Lee Rowley, as the new housing minister to replace Marcus Jones.
During the previous administration, Rowley was parliamentary under secretary of state in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and a government whip.
Before the period of national mourning following the Queen’s death, MP for Bishop Auckland, Dehenna Davison, was confirmed as parliamentary under secretary of state at DLUHC.
Paul Scully was appointed minister of state at the department in July 2022.
