Bank chief Carney calls for fund management laws

The Bank of England’s governor has warned new rules are being considered for open-ended funds.

Speaking before the House of Commons Treasury select committee, Mark Carney said the recent suspension of the Woodford Equity Income Fund had shown the need for reform.

Carney said: “These funds are built on a lie which is that you can have daily liquidity for assets that fundamentally aren’t liquid.”
